Careers in Neuroscience


Most neuroscience majors have interests in careers in research and very often go on to obtain advanced degrees and Westminster students have entered into a variety of PhD, medical school programs.

PhD programs that Westminster students have entered include:

        McGill University (Montreal Neurological Institute)

        Indiana University

        The Ohio State University

        University of Pittsburgh

        Georgia State University

        University of Illinois

        University of Montana

        Northeast Ohio Universities College of Medicine

        University of Aarhus (Denmark)

In recent years, several Westminster graduates obtain positions as technicians in research laboratories before moving into a graduate program. Westminster neuroscience alumni are now faculty members, staff scientists or hold post-doctoral positions at universities and colleges.

Laurie Miller - Clinical Lecturer, University of Sydney

Daniel Miller - Professor, Carthage College

Christopher Meade - Neuroanatomy of Huntingdon's Disease  researcher

Corrine Durisko - Graduate student doing fMRI research

Katie Alexander - Graduate student studying forebrain function

Loretta Kehoe - Graduate student in clinical neuropsychology

Brent Witgen - Graduate student in stereology

Ericka Peterson- Graduate student in neuroscience

Lauren Burhans - Post-doctoral researcher in neural basis of learning
