Lab 8
Repeated Measures Hypothesis Testing
Learning Objectives
-
Use repeated measures to test a hypothesis about just noticeable
differences.
-
Use problem solving skills to define and solve a problem.
-
Understand behavior through empirical processes.
-
Test the hypothesis with a repeated measures t-test.
-
Review and extend use of SPSS for data analysis.
Materials and Apparatus Needed
1. Light Comparator or graduated weight set with instructions.
2. Microcomputers with SPSS .
Instructions
A: Given the hypothesis that the higher the original intensity
of the stimulus the larger the amount of change is necessary for the
change
to be perceived, design a pretest - post test experiment.
What is the independent variable?
How is it operationalized?
What is the dependent variable?

B. Collect data to test your hypothesis from at least five
other
people (including your instructor).
(Hint: Test each subject with multiple trials with each of your two
levels of initial stimulus in comparison to the others.)
C. Analyze the data with SPSS to test your hypothesis.
D. Report your results using APA style.
