| Senior Studies in
Psychology at Westminster comprises a complete, intensive year long
thesis which is integrated
with Senior Capstone seminars (Psy 601 and 602), area advanced research
seminars
(Psy 631 -640, NS 631-632) and individual advising. Students
enter the senior
studies
program during the second semester of their junior year after passing
the
prerequisite research methods and statistical analysis class (Psy
201).
During this semester they identify an area of study, investigate it,
pose
a research question, prepare a formal research proposal that undergoes
faculty
and peer review and conduct preliminary investigations to prepare for
data
collection. During the second semester (Fall of the senior year),
students
revise their research proposal, collect data, analyze it, prepare a
formal
paper and presentation and make the presentation to the
department.
All students are also required to present their research during the
spring
semester of their senior year at a regional undergraduate research
conference. |
